Enclosed is a response to a request for information on control system
training I provided to Putman publications.
Traditional business Information Technology (IT) cyber security training
is offered by many organizations and several universities offer masters
degrees in information assurance or cyber security. However, there are
very few places to get useful training on control system cyber security
and there are no university programs dedicated to control system cyber
security. My personal recommendation would be to make sure that whatever
organization is offering the training is known and knowledgeable in
control systems. Specifically, I would recommend the following:
- Idaho National Laboratory (INL) training programs
- Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) training programs
- ISA S99-approved training programs
- Training programs offered by knowledgeable experts including
Eric Byers, Bryan Singer, Joe Weiss, and other acknowledged control
system security experts
I will put in a shameless plug: In order to get both IT and control
systems people on the same page, the August Control System Cyber
Security Workshop has 2 2-hour pre-conference tutorials: SCADA for
Dummies by Gary Seifert of INL and IT for Dummies by Dave Norton of
Entergy.
